A bush chain is quite similar to the roller chain. However, it does not have friction – reducing rollers and is usually thus suitable rather for lower traveling speeds. The permitted regular movement speeds of the slow-running bush chains range from 0.3 m/sec to at least one 1.2 m/sec, with no more than 3.0 m/sec. Bush chains are most regularly used in applications requiring continuous operation under coarse working conditions as well as procedure in warm and humid environment where the use of belt drives will be inappropriate.
